Why Teeth Whitening is Safe for Your Teeth

Changing the shade of your teeth is simple with in-office whitening. This is an easy and minimally invasive way to make a dramatic difference in your smile.

Research studies show that carbamide peroxide is a minimally-invasive option to safely enhance the esthetic appearance of your smile.

What is the teeth whitening solution made of?

Carbamide peroxide is the active ingredient in our whitening solution—composed of urea (a naturally occurring compound derived from protein metabolism) and hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a normally unstable compound that quickly destabilizes into oxygen and water, so the urea is there as a stabilizing component to contribute to the slower breakdown of the whitening material. This contributes to the ability of carbamide peroxide whitening agents to be worn overnight since their effectiveness is achieved slowly and more efficiently as compared to hydrogen peroxide alone.

Will teeth whitening affect your fillings and crowns?

Whitening does not alter the shade or brightness of existing restorations. If you are looking to whiten but are concerned about your existing crowns or fillings, ask us about options to achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of.

“The absolute best dentist I have ever been to, and I've been to several top rated ones. They take so so much time to answer all of your questions (even if you ask 50 like me) and give you all of the information so you can make an informed decision without being pushy…”
